One hundred and thirty years after the unit was deactivated, 1st Coy of the 93th Regiment of Foot was re-activated. It was formed in 2011 by dedicated historians of the Crimean War who wanted to share their knowledge with others who had similar interests. Based in Sebastopol, Ukraine the unit is an official part of "The Diehards Company" (Ukraine).

The company is too "young" to have its own reenacting experience but it performs the hard work to be the best Crimean War Living History Group worldwide. The unit boasts a very diverse membership. 1st Coy is comprised of members that live in Ukraine and who are employed in a multitude of occupations from college student to corporate executive. Frequently attendance at Crimean War re-enacting events is the norm for the unit.

The Sutherland Highlanders stress authenticity to the Crimean War period of 1854-1856. The uniform and equipment target date is September, 1854, the start of the Battle of Alma. 1st Coy is going to be very active in both battle and military drill demonstrations for the public (Living History festivals), as well as living history encampments.

The Sutherland Highlanders members have many strong ties with other Living History Groups of all periods who share this great hobby. The Sutherland Highlanders regularly participate in both regional and national re-enacting events such as Alma Battle and Siege of Sevastopol. Watch for the "Thin Red Line" in the battles!!!
